If I Was a Bettin’ Man: Week 3 CFB Parlay
I promised to do 3-leg parlays, but I’m doing it differently this week.
Today, I will give a two-leg parlay. You can add the UFC Noche bet I give at the end of the article to the parlay or just as a single bet.
Then, tomorrow, I will bite the bullet and drop my first NFL parlay.
So, let’s begin my first bet for week one is…..
LSU vs. Souther Carolina Over 48.5, -105
I think LSU should ultimately win, but the over is just a safer bet with these two powerful offenses.
My next bet for this two-leg parlay is…
Florida moneyline +152 against Texas A&M
A&M is a trash can. This year, they barely beat a Notre Dame team that couldn’t beat Northern Illinois. Florida is weird. Yes, they got blown out by Miami, but I expect this team to keep most games close this year with their duel quarterbacks, Grahm Mertz and freshman sensation DJ Lagaway.
My last bet for Saturday is risky, and you can add to the parlay or just a single bet.
UFC Noche Sean O’Malley vs Merab Dvalishvii, we are taking Merab +110
O’Malley is a sensation and one of the most popular fighters in UFC history. Still, I think his stardom has overshadowed some flaws in his game.
Merab is a beat on the ground. In his last fight, he rag-dolled Henry Cejudo, a two-time champ and Olympic gold medalist in wrestling.
This is one of those bets I want to be wrong on. I love what Sean O’Mally brings to the sport, but logically, Merab looks like the better fighter.
If you add the two college games together, you get odds of +392; if you add the fight to it, your odds increase to +993.
So Good luck and Good gambling to all
Football is back baby!
Life is good again, the weather is better, beer tastes better, music sounds better and most importantly Football is back in full swing.
College football was full blast with Texas beating the breaks off of 2024 National Champions Michigan. We had a huge upset with Northern Illinois burning the cathedral down in Notre Dame. It was a beautiful Saturday.
We finally got a full slate of NFL games on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday, adding another on this wonderful Monday. We saw new stars leading teams to victory with Barkley and the Eagles. We got to see America’s team destroy the Browns and their criminal Quarterback. Topping off the night Jared Goff and Dan Cambell have revived the Lions into looking like a real contender defeating Lions legend Matthew Stafford in Detroit.
This week I missed the blog I had weddings, a birthday, and a hospital visit (I cut my hand on a wine bottle). I also have started a huge project for the website that I plan on releasing at the beginning of October with more details to come. I have also decided to do NFL parlays along with College because why not?
Thanks so much for the support so far I am so excited for us all to take this journey together.
Also, the Jets cover +4.5 spread tonight (I hope they upset).
Paul, you suck at fantasy.
College Football: Sunday hangover
If you guys read my parlay post from Wednesday let’s hope you guys faded my picks because boy was I wrong.
Firstly Miami Curve stomped Florida, and Texas A&M vs Notre Dame was all defense. We can only hope that Boston College covers it so I can get one of those picks right. You know what they say though, Vegas didn’t build those towers with winners' money.
My biggest overreaction for Saturday is the Clemson Tigers suck. I think that Dabo has officially fallen from the graces. Dabo’s lack of use of the transfer portal so he can instead grow his players has officially blown up in his face. Instead of being a powerhouse he now coaches a mid-tier team.
My biggest two predictions for next week that is firstly I think Colorado is going to be handed their first loss in Lincoln, Nebraska. Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter are respectively on another level but the rest of the talent especially on defense is very questionable. Also, Nebraska is just better coached and being led by true freshman QB Dylan Raiola I expect this team to cause several upsets this season.
My second prediction is for Arkansas to upset Oklahoma State this weekend. Oklahoma State let South Dakota score 20 points on them last week, while Arkansas scored 70 points effortlessly. Transfer quarterback looked revived in this Arkansas offense scoring a total of 4 TDs using his arm and legs. Not to forget that running back Ja’Quinden Jackson scored 2 Touchdowns and rushed for 101 yards on 8 carries… Safe to say neither played any of the second half. While Ok State had their starters in the whole game versus their FCS program not to mention they were at home.
At the end of the day, I am so glad college football is back. Not all of my predictions are going to hit this year and some may hit big. I’m just happy to be able to write about it and go on this journey with my readers this year.
(USC upsets LSU tonight)
Heisman trophy in Good Ol’Rocky Top!
College football is better when Tennessee football is good. A couple of years ago we had Heisman contender Hendon Hooker in good Ol’Rocky top. Tennessee now has the biggest rising star in the country on their team, Nico Iamaleava.
Nico has been overshadowed coming out as the second Quarterback in a class with Arch Manning. That shadow should soon switch positions with Arch sitting behind Quinn for another year and Nico leading an SEC powerhouse in Tennessee.
Last year in their Bowl game against a great Iowa defense Nico got his first start where he made the Iowa boys look silly. Throwing for a touchdown and rushing for three more the 6’6 200 pound quarterback looked electric.
Tennessee has the weapons for this young man too, in star WR Squirrel White (contender for the coolest name in football). Transfer WR Chris Brazwell also arrives in Knoxville, who last year as a redshirt freshman at Tulane went for over 700 yards and 5 TDs.
I expect Nico to have a Caleb Williams effect on college football and be the most talked about name by the team this season ends. Expect Tennessee to have some big upsets and be huge contenders this year because of this guy.
If I Was a Bettin’ Man: Week 1 Parlay
Of course in the great state of Texas sports gambling is not allowed. I would never break such a law, but if I were a bettin’ man, a gambling degenerate as some would say. Then, I will drop a weekly 3-team parlay for my readers in legal states to use when they are making bets.
Most of the time, these bets will be based on college ball as I feel that’s the easiest to bet on. Sometimes I may add an NFL bet or UFC as I do love both of those sports, but I view them as way more unpredictable.
Texas A&M vs Notre Dame
Over 47.5
This first pick feels like free money A&M has had one of the worst coaching jobs with the most talented rosters. With a new play-caller, I expect the offense to be lethal this season.
Notre Dame had one of the best duel-threat QBs in the country, Riley Lenord transfer to them this season. They also brought over LSU’s offensive coordinator who coached Jayden Daniels to a Heisman trophy last season. They will score and score a lot.
Miami vs Florida
ML Florida +114
I will not lie this is by far my riskiest pick, let us break it down.
Miami reloaded through the transfer portal this season grabbing QB from Washington State, Cam Ward as the star of the class. They also have one of my least favorite coaches in all of football, Manny Cristobal who has the clock management skills of a third-grader.
Florida might not be doing much better with Napier on the other side. Although this is SEC football and Graham Mertz the QB for Florida has been in this league since 2019 getting an extra year because of COVID. I have a belief that these older QBs have an unfair advantage it’s legit grown men against children. He was already one of the most efficient QBs last year with a 20:3 touchdown to interception ratio.
Overall it will be a close game but I will always lean toward experience in the same system and SEC talent.
Florida State vs Boston College
+16.5 Boston College
I mean first off we all saw Florida State get upset last week against Georgia Tech. Although I think they should beat Boston College I think it will be close.
Boston College has an awesome running game with QB Thomas Castellanos leading the front rushing for 957 yards last year and 11 touchdowns. With the worst coach in NFL history Bill O’Brien leading this team, I expect them to have a field day.
All together these odds have us at +719 , and make for a nice little 3 legger on the first week of college football.
Good luck and Good gambling!
Dark Horse Contender?
Can an SEC team even be Dark Horse?
An SEC team is not usually looked at as a Dark Horse especially when they won 11 games the year before, but remember this: The Missouri Tigers are like a hidden gem in college football.
Despite an awesome performance last year, they're still considered an underdog. They won 11 games and ranked in the top ten in the all of College Football. They've got senior QB Brady Cook, who's been starting for three years and has a great 17-9 record in the SEC. Their wide receiver Luther Burden is a top 3 talent and is expected to go high in the NFL draft.
Looking at their schedule, it seems pretty manageable. The teams they're up against had a combined record of 66-83 last year. They've only got two tough games against teams with ten wins, and even those games against Alabama and LSU look promising for Missouri.
Alabama might be vulnerable after losing some key players like wide receiver Isaiah Bond and safety Caleb Downs, who were arguably their best players on each side of the ball. Lets also not forget the tiny detail of them losing the greatest head coach of all time in Nick Saban. And LSU is still figuring things out after losing their star QB Jayden Daniels and struggling in pass defense last year ranking 13 out of 14 in the SEC. This could be a chance for Cook and Burden to shine.
The only worry for this Missouri team is their defense, which was top four last year in the SEC but lost five players to the NFL. They're hoping some new transfers can step up to fill the gaps and this team might need to focus on outscoring opponents. But hey, they've got a solid chance to do that.
Missouri might have gotten lucky with their schedule, missing out on games against tough teams like Georgia, Ole Miss, and Texas. Although they retain 79% of their offense and their head coach Eliah Drinkwitz, they're looking strong for a great 2024 season. I expect this team to surprise many people this season and if they don't go undefeated to at least win 11 games.
